Moran Family of Brands got its start in 1958 as Dennis Moran, the original owner of the company, began a career in the automotive aftermarket industry. Over the years Mr. Moran’s entrepreneurial spirit was evident as he built the original business around automotive resale & wholesale and eventually saw the need for automotive and transmission parts and repair services. In 1990, Mr. Moran and his youngest daughter Barb founded Moran Industries and expanded the business model to include franchised repair facilities with the acquisition of Mr. Transmission. Through hard work, commitment to customers and development of innovative products and services, Dennis and Barb built the business into one of the leading transmission, auto repair and accessory franchises in the country. Barb has led the company through a changing industry and has served as the President and CEO since 1999.
In 2010, Barb Moran, bought the business from her father. Growing up in the business, Barb knows the value of building positive relationships and supporting her franchisees. This is demonstrated by her commitment to Moran franchisees in providing more tools, more technology, more system enhancements, and more vendor programs than ever before. In 2012, Moran Industries became Moran Family of Brands to better reflect the multiple brands and services that the company offers and the commitment to building a family environment for franchisees.
Today, Moran Family of Brands continues to evolve to meet customer demand, market conditions and revenue opportunities with innovation, ingenuity and collaboration. Moran Family of Brands got its start as a family-run business, and those ethical core values that propelled us from the beginning are still at the forefront of everything we do. The roots that would become Moran Family of Brands were planted in 1958, when Dennis Moran began his long and successful career in the automotive aftermarket industry. He built his business around automotive resale and wholesale, eventually recognizing a clear need for quality automotive repair and transmission parts in the market. Based on this need, his youngest daughter Barb founded Moran Industries in 1990 with a vision to improve the automotive industry with innovation and creativity.
Barb and Dennis Moran worked together to grow their business with hard work and dedication, eventually expanding to include franchised repair centers by acquiring the Mr. Transmission brand. They recognized the exciting growth potential that comes with franchise opportunities, and steadily built the business model over the years to include Alta Mere Toys for Cars,, Milex Complete Auto Care and Smartview Window Solutions, making the Moran name one of the leading transmission, auto repair and accessory franchises in the country. Barb Moran became President and CEO in 1999, and the car franchise business continued to experience success and expansion as the years went on.
Barb Moran bought the company from her father in 2010, carrying on the commitment to the franchisees that has made Moran Family of Brands a success. She and her team strongly believe that when a car franchise owner feels supported and equipped for success by the franchisor, the franchise opportunities to thrive grow along with franchisee’s confidence and capability. In 2012, Moran Industries became Moran Family of Brands, a name better exemplifying the family values and welcoming, warm culture the company creates among it’s team members and franchisee entrepreneurs.
Further solidifying the ingenuity of their automotive franchise opportunities, Moran Family of Brands implemented their multi-brand franchise option. As an answer to the growing trend of customers wanting a one-stop-shop automotive center, franchisees are able to operate up to three of the Moran car franchise brands under one roof, allowing for comprehensive automotive repairs, maintenance and various specialty services including high-tech accessories and window tinting. This innovative approach further propelled the success and growth of Moran Family of Brands and their franchise opportunities nationwide.
